In the Media
As a specialist paediatrician with expertise in respiratory health, air pollution, children's asthma and keeping children physically active, and also a commitment to effective communication with the public whom I serve, I am occasionally asked to comment in the press and on national television on subjects where I can usefully contribute such as vaccination, allergy and anaphylaxis, asthma mortality, air pollution and the Coronavirus pandemic (2020-2023).
As such, I have appeared on national media outlets, including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 News and Dispatches, and also print media such as the Financial Times.
As well as commentary on news stories related to health, my patients have exceptionally involved me in health-related public interest television programming, and I have given opinions on public health issues pertinent to the community I serve, speaking in local press and occasionally on demonstrations or at community events.
My research has had popular as well as scientific impact, with a piece on the health impacts of air pollution on commuters using active transport gaining particular international traction after press release at the European Respiratory Society Congress in Amsterdam in 2012.
