NHS Practice

I was appointed to as a substantive consultant in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Respiratory Medicine at the Royal London Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust, in 2013.

My team provides specialist respiratory care to NorthEast London, Essex, and beyond, including (but not limited to) the East London Regional Cystic Fibrosis Centre, Longterm Ventilation Service, providing fibreoptic flexible bronchoscopy, chest drainage and tracheostomy management. I lead the Difficult Asthma Service, assess patients with bony chest wall anomalies, and have established a multidisciplinary clinic to investigate children and adolescents with unexplained breathlessness and also respiratory symptoms in exercise.

I serve as Clinical Lead for Children's and Young People's Asthma in the Northeast London Integrated Care Board (NEL ICB, comprising 7 London boroughs and their associated hospitals), and represent them at the London Asthma Leadership and Implementation Group (LALIG). I hold two Local Clinical Excellence Awards and have won national prizes (LGC Public Health Award 2020 and HSJ Value Award 2021) in recognition of my work developing asthma services across the network.

I am a faculty member and previously co-chair of the Lung in Childhood educational and assessment program for paediatric respiratory trainees in London and the South of England and have served as Theory Examiner for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
