Publications & research
Research literacy is key to understanding the evidence base for excellence in paediatric care. From my early career to my academic doctoral thesis and beyond I have sought to understand the why and the how as well as the what, with my work and ideas published in high impact factor peer-reviewed journals such as the British Medical Journal, the European Respiratory Journal, Thorax, The Lancet and The Lancet Respiratory Medicine, Paediatric Respiratory Reviews and Archives of Disease in Childhood, as well as conference abstracts and book chapters.

I was fortunate to be admitted to the degree of Doctor of Medicine (a research degree) in 2018, at a time when my undergraduate Professor of Biochemistry, the Late Michael Waring, could present me at the Senate House, and my parents, wife and children could share the moment.
The research underpinning this degree, for which I was awarded the Sir Walter Langdon Brown Prize, was an investigation of the genetics of response to Montelukast in preschool wheezing and asthma (the WAIT Study). Other publications are available from Researchgate.
